1. What the recognition is and who awarded it
Canada's Top Growing Companies is a yearly ranking from Report on Business, the business magazine of The Globe and Mail. The 2026 edition, which ranks 375 companies, was published on September 25, 2026. It is the eighth annual list since the program began in 2019.
The Globe's listing describes Solar X, as of October 2026, as a Toronto private company in the Energy and Natural Resources group, providing residential and commercial solar and battery design and installation with AI integration. The listing ranks Solar X No. 308 and shows 69 percent three year revenue growth, 2025 revenue of $2 million to $5 million, and one year on the ranking. In plain words, 2026 is the first time Solar X Canada appears on this list.
2. What the ranking measures
The ranking measures one thing: how much a company's yearly revenue grew over three years, as a percentage. Revenue is total sales before costs. For the 2026 list, the Globe compared 2025 revenue with 2022 revenue.
According to the Globe's methodology page, as of October 2026:
- Companies apply voluntarily and submit income statements for both years. The Globe's researchers verify the figures and may require the CEO or finance head to sign an attestation.
- A company needs at least $2 million in revenue in the most recent year and at least $200,000 three years earlier.
- Companies must be Canadian run, independent, for profit, and in continuous operation through the measured period.
- There is no fee to apply or to be listed.
