The Greener Homes Initiative – Up to $5000 to Upgrade Your Home With Solar

The government of Canada is working at full speed to reduce emissions and help Canadians prepare for a better future with renewable energy. It is interesting to note that buildings account for nearly 18% of Canada’s greenhouse gas emissions and as a part of the 2030 climate change commitments, the government is planning on implementing more stringent building codes, including for existing homes and buildings. Homeowners need to be adequately prepared for the changes that will come in the future and also make their homes more comfortable, efficient, and safer places to live.

The Greener homes initiative is a wonderful opportunity for homeowners to make their homes more comfortable to live at reduced costs, while at the same time gain grants from the government for contributing to Canada’s goal of achieving net-zero greenhouse gas emissions! The Greener Homes initiative will provide homeowners with up to $5000 in grants for the installation or implementation of qualifying equipment like solar panels that are capable of significantly lowering greenhouse gas emissions. The greener homes initiative will provide 700,000 grants of up to $5000 to help homeowners make energy-efficient decisions like going solar!

Top reasons for going Solar!

The government has planned to provide up to 700,000 grants of up to $5,000 to help homeowners make energy efficiency retrofits like solar. Announced in the Fall Economic Statement 2020, the Greener Homes initiative is available to homeowners going solar retroactive to December 1, 2020.

In addition to these lucrative opportunities, Canada has a lot of federal and provincial rebates for homeowners that are producing power by solar. Depending on the province you live in, the rebate can be even as high as $10,000! Canada is committed to achieving net-zero emissions by 2050, but the government cannot fulfill this goal on its own. It requires the support of youth, businesses, and the public from all parts of society. Studies show that a residential solar array can offset over 2 tonnes of carbon dioxide emissions every year!

Solar energy reduces your power bill and helps you get substantial grants from the government, but it also helps in increasing the health and wellness of you and your children by reducing harmful emissions into the atmosphere!
